Elie Hirschfeld 130-Piece Art Collection

Elie Hirschfeld’s New York-themed art collection, recently donated to the New York Historical Society, will be available for preview beginning February 12, with the full collection planned for a Fall show.

Scenes of New York City is comprised of 130 works and features drawings, paintings, and mixed media. Artists and movements represented are associated particularly with New York City, and range from the 19th through 21st Centuries. Keith Haring, Edward Hopper, Stuart Davis, Willem de Kooning, Sol LeWitt, Louise Nevelson, Georgia O’Keeffe, Mark Rothko, and Andy Warhol are all represented, among many others.

“As we get closer to Scenes of New York City opening at New-York Historical in the fall, Sarah and I are delighted to present these first works to the general public,” said Elie Hirschfeld. “These paintings in particular provide a unique glimpse of life in New York City in the late 19th and early 20th century that New Yorkers will still recognize.”
